Our End of the Summer/Back to School family vacation was a ton of fun, Alyson began school last week (turns out she's in love with every moment spent there), and Greg's "extended" weekend-long Birthday celebration was filled with memories to last a life time! We are looking forward to seeing what else God has in store for us as Fall arrives! We are blessed beyond belief!!!
On Friday evening, we had fun spending our gift cards on a lovely dinner out, stopping by for dessert on the way home.....alone, being as Aly was at one of her infamous sleep-overs! (Thank you, Uncle Mark and Aunt 'Nita for being such a wonderful host/hostess' and another thank you to Ms. Cassie for adding to the mix.....Aly had a ball!) The next morning, we relaxed, took a "Sunday-afternoon-drive" on Saturday and simply took time to enjoy each others company! We have a couple of photos taken over the weekend and decided to add a few of our favorite past Anniversary "memories" to the album, as well! (Remember, you can left-click on the center of the slideshow to be taken to larger still-shots of the photos!) Happy Anniversary to us and we pray the Lord will send us many more!
The past month has been FULL to say the least...Mother's Day, Staycation, Pool Days and more!!! It has come to our attention that we did not post a Mother's Day Album on this site (which we were blessed to have spent with the Indiana family), so we are going to add a few pictures from that day to an Album we will call "The Beginnings of Summer"!!!
Our busy schedule has included, Memorial Day with the Ohio family (AKA: A 75th Anniversary Celebration for Mamaw and Papaw J.), we also enjoyed "Date Night" (while Aly had a "sleep ova" at Mimi and Papaw's), the Staycation (which was already mentioned), an afternoon at Uncle Bill's Pet Center and the list goes on and on!!!
We're looking forward to the month of June...well, we would be more honest if we said, we're excited for the entire Summer!!! There is company coming in from Louisiana next week, Father's Day right around the corner, also Wesley will be state-side in July and once again, the list goes on and on!!!
We would like to take a moment and wish all of you the most wonderful Summer...be sure to stop and smell the daisies, chill out with your loved ones and enjoy the small things in life!!! As you will notice, some have gone through the edit program, while others have yet to be done (and are in desperate need of editing)! Our schedule simply will not allow us to edit everything the way we always have in the past right now...but, we are so thankful the Lord gave us a beautiful and meaningful Easter, both at Church and with our family! (Please excuse the photos which are raw!)
We are also grateful to have had a splendid and safe Spring Break, both at IHC in Dayton and in St. Louis, followed by a few days at the home of Greg's parents!
This has indeed been an incredible Spring and we're looking forward to an even better Summer!
What fun we had and the many wonderful memories we were able to make at this years State Fair! Deep Fried Veggies, Pepper Jack on Sour Dough with an original Dairy Barn Malt, Old Fashioned Corn Dog, Deep Fried Pizza, Lemon Shake Up or Pineapple Whip, Fried Oreos, Fried Milky Ways or the new Deep Fried B.R. Ice Cream...so many yummy things to choose from!!! Needless to say, we were feeling full and hoping to be heartburn-free at the end of the day, before we ever arrived on the fairgrounds! We do love the State Fair...especially on 2$ Tuesdays!!! We were able to use vouchers which allowed us on the grounds for TWO dollars (per adult) AND there were also several food vendor choices for only TWO dollars, as well! In addition to the delightful and unlimited Fair food, our visit included pony rides, petting and feeding lots of different animals, sightseeing, the Evening Parade, the Ferris Wheel, Wavy Slide, Bumble Bee and Strawberry Swirl rides, Roller Coasters and MORE!!! We certainly got our groove on again this year and are already looking forward to next year, y'all!!! We began the day taking Aly to a "sleep ova" with her Mimi and Papaw, which included a tea party and a visit to the Children's Museum and one where she felt like a real life Princess. I relaxed with a much needed manicure and then we headed into the city. We had reservations at The Omni Severin Hotel, which was simply lovely! We enjoyed a delicious meal at Weber Grill, including a complimentary dessert of Chocolate Bundt Cake Wedge with Hot Homemade Fudge Sauce poured all over it and Vanilla Bean Ice Cream! DIVINE! Back at our room, we received Anniversary gifts and a note from the Omni staff, chocolates, chilled water, in-house bathrobes, late check-out, etc. This morning we walked to the Hilton Inn and Resort for their infamous Breakfast Buffet (you'll see some of the yummy details on the photo), before walking the city, the Canal and Circle Center Mall. We did a little shopping and grabbed Burgers and Malts before heading home to meet Aly. This was a weekend that will live on in our hearts forever! Thank you Greg, Mama and Daddy for a most memorable weekend!
Following a major accident a week or two ago, which involved our camera being ruined, I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of my Anniversary gift (a new camera)... we have several photos waiting 'in the wings' to be edited and posted from other Summer '11 activities, so please keep your eyes open for their soon arrival! We also spent a day @Dollywood, with supper following @Big Daddy's (where they cook with a wood fired brick oven~YUMMM)! Every day was a beautiful day on our vacation in the southern countryside! You will see "CAPTIONS" on the photos, if you right-click in the center of the Slideshow, itself! On Sunday, @Cade's Cove alone, we saw 7 or 8 deer, several wild turkeys and a half a dozen black bears! Later, @Three Bears, we saw another 4 black bears, up close and personal! Those pix were taken on a different camera and will have to be shared at a later date. Aly loved all of the wild animals and wanted to find some she could pet and feed... which will have to wait til our next visit or til we find a local petting zoo! We always love the home cookin' @The Old Mill, too! What INCREDIBLE days were enjoyed on this Spring Break!!! Aly rode rides "alone", literally, in Kids Country @The Track (Family Rec. Center) including GO KARTS, also "alone"!!! We all loved eating @No Way Jose's, late afternoon shopping for Mama and I @Tanger Outlet, afterwards, we stopped by for Christmas Eve Stew and Million Dollar Dessert @Partridge & Pear and had a nice chat w/Kirk Talley... later that night, I was thrilled to go on a nighttime horse 'n carriage ride, followed by a round of outdoor putt-putt and late-night snack @Five Guys, with my Man and Baby Girl!!! Such beautiful sights to be seen all over the Smokies !!! Sunny and warm, the whole week, with the exception of ONE afternoon when rain and temps began to fall, but it remained in the 60's and the rain was that wonderful "slanted, gentle" rain like we Southerner's love! Temps shot back up the next day and the sun was once again shining! We found a new “favorite” place to eat @New Orleans Sandwich Co., in G'Burg, and it will now be a "REGULAR" stop for us! YUMMO for REAL Cajun cuisine!!! One can't forget ice cream @Kilwin's, either! Brunch @The Applewood Farmhouse AND shopping @The Apple Barn, General Store & Cider Mill, as always was a hit! Nothing beats their delightful "fritters" & homemade apple butter, either! Though this was far from a stress-free vacation, it was a GREAT one with TONS of memories made, and I will always be grateful to the Lord for providing it for us!!! Ya just gotta love southern sunshine and believe me, the five of us are considering putting down stakes and calling the South “HOME” again, someday... just sayin'!

***I also added a couple of Mother's Day photos to this album for you to enjoy!!!
Your Penn Palz :http://www.blogger.com/profile/03674028447332247719noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3958388626636817519.post-30753166761657211872011-04-25T21:06:00.006-04:002011-04-25T22:01:01.519-04:00Easter 2011

We had an incredible Easter week!!! We stayed busy the entire week in preparation for the Annual Easter Egg Hunt, which we are in charge of and it was another great success! We didn't quite make it in time for the Easter Church Breakfast, due to not wanting to have full stomachs for singing, though Aly did get to enjoy a bit of the morning goodness! Our Worship Service, mini-musical and sermon, has been said by several who were in attendance, to be the best Easter service they had been to in years or even for their entire lifetime! We must agree, the Spirit was there in a way that just gave you goosebumps from the first note of the first song! One of my personal favorites this year was, "Finished Indeed"..... ♫♪ "The road to Calvary's hill has been travelled, for Jesus took upon Himself the burden of our blame, so why do we feel the need to bear that cross again, to struggle so with all our guilt and shame. When He said it was finished, it was finished, indeed? We're no longer bound to what sin had decreed with the blood that was spilled, His Grace was revealed and it was finished, indeed!" ♪♫ Of course, Easter isn't complete without a fun Egg Hunt, lots of candy, a visit with the Easter Bunny, a wonderful meal with the family, etc. So, I've added a photo album below for you to have a glimpse of our Easter celebrations this year! Our dinner menu consisted of Glazed Ham, Chicken & Noodles, Mashed Potatoes, Corn on Cob, Broccoli Casserole, Strawberry-Almond Salad, Deviled Eggs, Hot Homemade Rolls, Cream Puff Dessert and Swedish Nut Cake! Thanks to each of the family members for bringing in such delightful foods!!! I'm afraid my diet was in jeopardy! We are all excited about Easter and will continue to try to capture a few special moments on camera to share with you...trust y'all are all having a fabulous Spring and Easter season, as well! Easter is a holiday when many people think of the Easter bunny, decorating eggs, dressing up in your 'new' Sunday best and going to church. While there is absolutely nothing wrong with these things, Easter should be more than just another holiday to the Christian. It should be a time to remember that Jesus not only died for our sins, but He rose again and is waiting to come back and receive us back to Him!!! Too many things to try and list them ALL, suffice it to say, we're having an incredible time, thus far!!!
We truly enjoyed our 'first' family vacation...10 days away from home, together! Aly experienced her first hotel-stay (other than the ones when she was still a baby!), her first time to go 'swimming' with her Daddy (in a BIG pool!), her first visit to Six Flags Over Mid-America, etc.
Then, we ended the vacation by spending time with Greg's family... Wesley was in the process of preparing to leave for his 2-year USAF stint to South Korea (on July 3rd) and it was fun before his departure date, to all be together, again! Mawmaw and Pawpaw even let Greg and I go out on a "date" while we were there and Aly had a ball making crafts with them, at the same time!
Aly's favorite moments of vacation, were without a doubt, the "BIG" kid rides at Six Flags, the "BIG" hotel pool (of course!) and the "Splashing Hole" (also at Six Flags!)....... Can you tell that she's in love with water and having a good time all the time???
We have also attended some great restaurants, concerts, revivals, birthday parties, etc. back at home, in Indy! Mimi and Papaw have joined us for several really fun excursions this Summer, as well... Aly always LOVES any second she can spend with them and the more, the merrier! We really enjoyed spending the 4th of July together... the Princess thinks we should have a 'fireworks show' every night, now! Aly's favorite weekly activity would have to either be Summer School or going to the Mall, Park, etc. with her Papaw!!!
Whitley and her friend, Katie came to town for a few days and we enjoyed taking them downtown, shopping at Circle Center, supper with Mimi and Papaw on Monument Circle, Incredible Pizza Co., Ritter's Frozen Custard, etc. Aly thought she was a teenager while they were here, too!!!
The Children's Department, at church, began a new program for the Summer and it's really fun... full of media, music, etc. and lots of work for Greg and I, but the kids are loving it and that makes it worth it all!
We are excited about our 6th Anniversary coming up, on July 24th, a special dinner-out is being planned; a trip to Port Clinton (and probably Cedar Point) coming up at the beginning of August; Greg's parents will also be here for a visit, over his Birthday weekend, in the middle of August; etc.
So, as you can see... our Summer has been and continues to be FULL UP with many fun activities, great company, neat destinations, good food, etc.!!! Trust you and yours are enjoying a great one, as well.......
P.S.~ We hope to add pictures to this (pitiful quality, once again a BLACKBERRY) Photo Album right away or possibly create a new one, so keep your eyes open for more pictures soon!

Summer 2010 BLACKBERRY Album

Your Penn Palz :http://www.blogger.com/profile/03674028447332247719noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3958388626636817519.post-4969104512506572502010-06-01T11:34:00.006-04:002010-07-13T12:24:57.365-04:00HAPPY JUNE!!!

Spring 2010 BLACKBERRY Album

HAPPY TUESDAY! Where has the month of April gone??? We have had a wonderful month, that's for sure! The weekend following our last post, we drove out to be with Greg's family for a couple of days and had a blast! His Mom and I spent the majority of the weekend 're-doing' much of their first floor... and hoping to complete both floors by either the Holidays or late Winter ('11)! Decorating is very comforting to me and so much fun!
Upon our return home, we had few battles to fight for a few days, but God really helped us to rise above the circumstances! We made a decision that "in the happy moments, we would praise God; during difficult moments, we would seek God; in the quiet moments, we would praise God; even in the painful moments, we would trust God; and in EVERY moment, we would THANK God!" If you think about a hot, fresh, glazed donut... your mouth is sure to begin to 'water'! Now, think about the ingredients that go into that donut, to make it so yummy. While some of them may be appealing in their own right (sugar), others are not so tantalizing (lard), yet without the lard, the donut wouldn't work! But, we'd still rather not think about it being in there, right? Life is kinda like a donut, sometimes! [Romans 8:28]
Greg drove a group of young men down to Kentucky for the following weekend, where they attended KMBC's "iLIVE 2010". An enjoyable and spiritual time was had by all! Aly and I were able to enjoy a couple of days together here at home and a VERY fun "play-date" with our friends, Carley, Claire and their mommy, Becky! A true 'girls evening out' and Aly thought she had the world by the tail, for sure!!!
Mother and I attended the "Ladies Spring Fling"... Mother/Daughter Luncheon... hosted by the ladies of our church, on the 17th, which was really nice for us! For Aly too, because she was able to have a "date" with her Papaw, at the same time!
Our church Spring Revival, was held on April 18 - 21, with Rev. Jim Mellish and Mark and Janene Dubbeld. This was without a doubt, the best Revival our church has had, atleast in the last five years!!! Not ONLY because of what our own family received from it, but because the Holy Spirit came in unbelievable ways! GOD IS SO GOOD... ALL THE TIME AND ALL THE TIME... GOD IS SO GOOD!!!!! (If you care to hear the details of what happened in our own family, just let me know and I'll gladly 'fill you in'!) "Got any rivers YOU think are uncrossable?
